Each rod is provided with two tips. They are color-coded. One tip will have the tip-top wrapped in the main color of the rest of the rest of the wraps. The other will be wrapped in the color of the tipping. The tip-top wrap is very small, only 6 or so turns. From a few feet away, you cannot tell one from the other, however, it is readily apparent when you remove the rod from tube. This will help you keep track of which tip was used last. I recommend switching tips every couple of trips.
Line Weights: The lines sizes specified are for double-taper lines. They reflect what I find work best for me for each rod. I am an average caster and I usually fish under average conditions and distances. Stronger casters fishing at longer distances may benefit from going up one line size and to a weight-forward line. For example, substitute a 7 weight, weight-forward line for a 6 weight double-taper. Conversely, for very short distance casting, you may find the rod loads easier by going up one line size in double-taper.
